About the LPYC

The Choir presents about five concerts each year plus occasional concerts by invitation. These include a light Autumn concert, a traditional Christmas concert, a Spring concert and a fun end of year concert.

The Senior Choir have sung in the Millennium Hall, Cardiff, and in Huddersfield with the University Choir and Orchestra.

The Boys Choirs have sung in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana with The Bardi Orchestra and Chorus at De Montfort Hall and the Girls Choir sang Vanghan Williams' Hodie with Leicester University Choral Society. Both participated in John Rutter's Mass of the Children at the invitation of another local choir.

The Choir have entered the 'Leicester Competitive Festival of Music and Drama'; winning both the 'Childrens’ Choir for 11 to 16 years' and also the 'Childrens’ Choirs up to 19 years'.

The Junior Choirs visit the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham every year to join with 3,000 other children to sing in the Young Voices concert.

The Choir has an active social life with visits to concerts and theatres, and our popular residential trip.

Many of the past LPYC members have gone on to have successful careers within the arts.

"Choirs like this are incredible opportunities for young singers to discover their voices and musical interests and also to develop confidence in other areas of their lives."
